Growth Strategy
Situation
Our Parklife is a social enterprise that was set up to support the regeneration of Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park when Engie won the facilities management contract for the park in 2014. It mainly provided mobility services on the park through a volunteering programme. The activities were mostly funded by the London Legacy Development Committee (LLDC) but Our Parklife wanted to be in a position to continue to deliver its services and impact beyond the life of the LLDC. Aleron was commissioned to support Our Parklife in creating a growth strategy that would enable the organisation to be financially sustainable in the long term.
Our approach
In order to develop robust business cases and financial models for Our Parklife we began our project with a series of extensive engagement activities. These included interviews with Our Parklife board members, a focus group with LLDC representatives, and a workshop with beneficiaries. This enabled us to identify growth opportunities, outline existing skills and expertise within Our Parklife and its partners and short list income generation options for further investigation. After conducting desk research to test market opportunities, we worked with Our Parklife senior management to refine the service delivery models, implementation plans and key dependencies for success. We completed our work by producing detailed financial business cases for each of the service development ideas.
Our impact
Using our analysis, the board was able to select and prioritised growth opportunities. The organisation has since then managed to diversify their income by providing guided tours, education visits and corporate volunteering services.
