Betsy had a successful career in the energy sector and is now dedicating her time to the social and public sector. She brings deep expertise in energy efficiency, community engagement, and more broadly in operational effectiveness. Betsy is a member of the Risk Committee of Business in the Community (BITC).
She left British Gas in July 2014 as Director of Strategy for their retail activities, and is now Director General and COO at Defra. Prior to that, she was Managing Director, Community Energy and Director of Metering. She also hold other senior positions within Centrica and Enron.
Betsy holds an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in International Relations from Stanford University.
